Dubai chocolate syrup: how to make the viral pistachio chocolate latte

The viral Dubai chocolate as a coffee? With Dubai Chocolate and Pistachio syrup you can make a pistachio chocolate latte at home, hot or iced.

A Dubai chocolate latte is a latte with chocolate and pistachio flavours. At home it's easy with the sugar-free Dubai Chocolate syrup: pour 20 to 30 ml into your mug, add espresso and frothed milk, and finish with some chopped pistachios. For even more pistachio, combine it with Pistachio syrup.

The drink is inspired by 'Dubai chocolate', a chocolate bar filled with pistachio and crispy kataifi that became famous worldwide through social media. Coffee bars soon turned it into a latte.

What is a Dubai chocolate latte?

A Dubai chocolate latte is a latte with the flavours of the famous bar: chocolate and pistachio, often finished with chocolate sauce, chopped pistachios or a crunchy topping. There's no fixed recipe: every coffee bar has its own version.

Which syrup do you use for a Dubai chocolate latte?

You have two options:

  • Dubai Chocolate syrup on its own: the easiest way. The name refers to the viral chocolate bar.
  • Dubai Chocolate + Pistachio: use half of each (for example 15 ml + 15 ml) if you want a stronger pistachio note.

Both syrups are sugar-free and sweetened with sucralose.

How do you make a hot Dubai chocolate latte?

For a latte of about 300 ml:

  • 20 to 30 ml Dubai Chocolate syrup (or 15 ml Dubai Chocolate + 15 ml Pistachio)
  • 1 or 2 espressos
  • 200 ml milk
  • Optional: chopped pistachios, cocoa powder or a piece of chocolate
  1. Pour the syrup into a large mug.
  2. Add the espresso and stir well.
  3. Froth the milk and pour it in.
  4. Sprinkle chopped pistachios and a little cocoa over the foam.

The step-by-step recipe is also in our Dubai chocolate latte.

How do you make an iced Dubai chocolate latte?

  1. Mix the syrup with the espresso in a glass.
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. Pour in cold milk and stir.
  4. Finish with cold foam and chopped pistachios.

Tip: want to recreate the crunch of the bar's kataifi? Briefly toast some kataifi (fine pastry threads) in a pan with a knob of butter and sprinkle it over your drink.

Can you make a Dubai chocolate drink without coffee?

Yes. Stir the syrup into hot chocolate, or into cold milk with ice, for a caffeine-free version. The chocolate-pistachio combination also works well in a milkshake with vanilla ice cream.
